An Easy Guide to Parallel Parking

An Easy Guide to Parallel Parking

If you are new to driving and just starting to learn the basics, you might have heard of a notorious skill that everyone must learn to get their drivers license: the dreaded parallel parking.

It is a method of parking your vehicle parallel to the road and in line with other parked vehicles. This is considered to be one of the hardest skills for new drivers to acquire and is a required part of many road tests done by driving schools in Irving, Texas. By fully learning this method of parking, you will be able to park a vehicle in smaller spaces.

We at Bombay Driving School give you an easy guide to help you master parallel parking:

  • Step 1:Signal your turn and pull up to the car in front of your desired parking spot. Make sure that you are evenly lined up with that car.
  • Step 2:Put your vehicle in reverse and drive backward. Do it slowly until you see that your rear bumper passes by the rear bumper of the car in front of you.
  • Step 3:After step 2, start turning your steering wheel to the right. Continue to slowly go in reverse and aim for the right rear corner of the space with your rear bumper. You can practice this during a private driving lesson with us.
  • Step 4:Once your vehicle reaches a 45-degree angle in relation to the vehicle in front of you, begin turning your steering wheel towards the left to straighten your tires. Keep doing this until your right front bumper clears the front vehicle’s rear bumper.
  • Step 5:After doing step 4, quickly turn your steering wheel all the way to the left and start rolling back until you are behind the front vehicle. Straighten your steering wheel and place your vehicle in the center.

By following these easy steps and getting adult driving lessons in Texas, you can surely master the art of parallel parking in no time!
